Mix It Up – Live life your way is a social connection and engagement service that is focused on assisting people to achieve their individual goals. Mix It Up – Live life your way is based in Surrey Downs however, work is undertaken in the broader community, providing a variety of services to people receiving NDIS funding. 

The Role

We are currently looking for a Team Leader to assist our Lifestyle Options team. The Lifestyle Options team provide individualised support for people who may have a disability, mental health condition, experience memory loss, are ageing or socially isolated and accompanies people over the age of 18 to participate in social, community and recreational activities of their choosing.

Reporting to the Lifestyle Options Manager the Team Leader provides direction, support and supervision to ensure a high quality of service to Mix It Up- Live Life Your Way clients.

Key focuses for the role:

  • Work collaboratively with the Lifestyle Options Manager

  • Develop, plan and implement individualised lifestyle plans with potential and current clients, their families & carers

  • Build strong relationships with clients, staff members, referring organisations & others

  • Manage and support the team of Lifestyle Companions including regular and annual performance reviews

  • Ensure all compliance measures are being met

  • Provide responsive service coordination

  • Rostering management including adequate shift coverage

  • Willingness and ability to undertake Lifestyle companion/community support duties (as required)

  • Flexibility in the range of hours required to satisfy organisational needs

  • Provide regular feedback to the Lifestyle Options Manager, director and the NDIS as required

  • Ability to work with and accept cultural, racial and social diversity

  • Availability to be on call as required 

Skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated background in mental health, disability or the human services sector

  • Strong, respectful communicator (Excellent verbal & written communication skills)

  • Mentoring skills including experience in motivating, developing and directing people in their role while supporting productive working relationships

  • Leadership qualities including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, health practitioners, government departments and other contacts across the sector

  • Excellent interpersonal & listening skills

  • Self-driven, dynamic and responsive

  • Knowledge of the NDIS framework

  • Understanding of the NDIS pricing arrangements and billable hours accountability

  • Strong administrative skills; time management, coordination of tasks, balance competing priorities, efficient work practices

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Excellent computer literacy

  • Flexible 

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision but seek clarification when needed

  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solving with the ability to address issues as they arise

  • A team player with a ‘Can-do’ attitude

  • Honest & transparent

  • Solid understanding of the Mental Health Sector and Community Resources

  • Provision of satisfactory screening/clearances (NDIS workers clearance or Disability services/aged care & WWCC) or willingness to obtain

  • ‘C’ class drivers licence

  • Full comprehensive vehicle insurance

  • Current influenza vaccination

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Human Services (preferred), however, Minimum of Certificate 4 in Community services, Disability or Mental Health or relevant experience
