What is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?

​

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching supports people with a mental health diagnosis to develop skills to manage the complexities and challenges of day to day life. Through building strength, resilience and personalised strategies to respond to situations in a positive a constructive way that provides a sense of personal control.

​

Participants are assisted to articulate what a meaningful life means for them and their families and carers, and to then make decisions for themselves. Aiming to increase independence, social participation, and economic participation.

 

Key features of Psychosocial Recovery Coaching include:

​

Developing a recovery plan that will build on and complement the NDIS plan, by clarifying and breaking down goals to short term objectives, articulating strengths and identifying barriers. This is achieved by:

​

  • Developing a strong and trusting working relationship.

  • Clear communication through understanding, listening, clarifying.

  • Agreeing on identified goals.

  • Developing a shared understanding of actions and roles and responsibility.

  • Building skills for self-direction and taking control.

  • Setting tasks and undertaking agreed actions.

  • Reviewing, reflecting, evaluating, and learning from outcomes and experiences.

  • Reporting to the NDIS.

  • Liaise and collaborate between informal and formal support services to ensure you are well supported.
